Pulling all the right ingredients together to make your perfect wedding day can be tricky – especially if you don’t know the area so well. Even if you do this is probably your first experience of organising a wedding so it can be tricky to find the right suppliers. So to help you out I have decided to put a together a list of some of my favorite and what I consider to be the best wedding suppliers in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset that I have worked with over the last few years including some tips on where to look for wedding inspiration.
The Venue – Your choice of venue kind of defines your wedding so it is an important decision. So here are a few variations on the theme!
Buckland House – is the most eccentric , quirky, grand venue will ever come across. Its incredible, completely un-commercial and even has its own little chapel. Its based right in the heart of Devon in rolling countryside and you can have the run of the entire place! Maybe your looking to set up a marquee in a back garden or field – I think Abbas Marquees are exceptional! If you want everything laid on and taken care of then you’ll probably want to opt for a hotel. I can’t choose between Woolacombe Bay Hotel on the North Coast or South Sands Hotel on the south coast. Both are lovely. The woolacombe Bay has a fantastic art deco feel about it with a fantastic ballroom – and its just a stones throw from the beach. However the South Sands boutique hotel which is literally on the beach has a modern fresh feel about it and the seafood is excellent.
The Flowers – I love the flowers at a weddings – I think they are so important. For my own wedding I grew about a million Sweet peas and stuffed them into jam jars– they looked and smelled gorgeous but if your not into growing your own then I strongly recommend you use either of these fabulous florists: Emma vowels or Bramble and wild.
Another great reason to use the best wedding suppliers in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset has to offer is because it is so important to support local business on an environmental and economical level. Plus the fact we have so many people offering really great things.
Accesories– Crockery , bunting and lovely bits and bobs – Don’t look any further than Devon Vintage China!
Photobooth – If your thinking about getting a photobooth set up then ‘Alfie the black cab booth’ is probably what your looking for – Super, Super – fun they just park him up where you need him!
Balloons – Several couple have asked me where you buy those lovely big round balloons the couple on my homepage are holding. Right here.
Hair and Make-up – Eve Ashby is a very talented and lovely make up artist. For your hair I love Claire Mathers from The Hair Sanctuary. Or if your looking for hair and make up try the ladies at The Pop-up salon who do exceptional work!
Catering – So many options……However if your looking for a traditional three course I’d recommend Gideon Hitchen – the food is superb and beatifully presented! If your after something a little more rustic check out Treloars Deli. If its a wedding cake you need then speak to the Honiton Cake Gallery!
The Dress – This is the fun part where you get to trawl around loads of shops with your friends trying on dresses – but just in case you don’t find what your looking for try Etsy. Lots of small designers just getting going are selling their dresses here – as well as some vintage dresses – definitely worth look!
Photography – Well I think if your looking for the best wedding photographer in Devon, Cornwall or Somerset I think you’ve probably found her! Okay I am slightly bias here!! But really its not that complicated! The most important thing is the image. There are loads of brilliant wedding photographers out there you just need to take your time and decide what is the right style and approach for you.
Wedding Inspiration – If you are planning a wedding and you are not on Pinterest then get on it now!! It is such a fantastic way to search for ideas and bring together images and inspiration to help you get a sense of what it is you really love. (although you should be warned it is slightly addictive!) You can have a look at my boards here.
